Hello!

I am joining this forum for advice in taking care of a cat that was given to me. My kitty, who is named Squeaky, seems to be a younger hybrid or purebred tabbi cat. Not much history is available about the cat. The cat showed up at my co-workers house out in the country, and is a sweet and loving kitty. He suspects someone dropped it off in the rural area, but he couldn't take it in due to his wife's allergies.

He did some searched on Facebook and the like, but didn't find anyone who was missing this kitty. So he looked for someone to take the kitty in. And that someone ended up being me.

I live alone, and work a lot, but have no other pets currently besides a salt water reed aquarium. Kitty bonded with me well, and she does like staying in the house.

I was feeding her a mixture of dry food, with the suggested daily portion, plus small single serving wet food servings in the morning and evening. Then I noticed her getting fat. Oh my, I was feeding her too much! As it turns out, no, she was pregnant. She also had fleas which I noticed a tad too close to her giving birth to really deal with quite yet.

She had kittens this past Thursday. She had 2, but one had a severely cleft lip and it didn't seem that it could suckle properly. I tried syringe feeding it but it had difficulty with that and often turned away. Sadly it didn't make it and passed this morning. The other kitten seems healthy and strong however.

The queen is nursing, but she is often restless while nursing, moving around a lot. I also notice that she sometimes, maybe twice a day, is spotting blood when she sits on the kitchen floor. I am a little concerned about this, being so long since giving birth. Inspecting her I never actually see any blood on her.

Anyhow, this all has been a bit unexpected. So I guess I am here looking for some advice and guidance.
