The best cat toy ever!
A few years ago I bought a battery operated clock with a thick cord (or
thin rope) to use for hanging it. I used it in the bathroom. A couple of weeks ago it quit working, so I removed the batteries and cord and threw it away. I thought I might find some use for the cord in the future, so I put it through the wash. I have a large collection of cat toys, but Pickles has seldom shown any interest in them. Before I had a chance to put that cord away, Pickles found it and claimed it. At first the only indication of that was that I'd find it in different rooms. A couple days ago his interest got much more active. Now, three or four times a day, he kills it, drags it around, doing that closed-mouth, I have prey "meow". He tosses it and pounces on it, always very vocal while he's doing that. Unfortunately, sometimes he'll decide to do this after I go to bed, or early in the morning. Joy |

It's so lovely when they find that special toy. AS for the when you've gone to bed or early in the morning, he's bored and he's leaving you to sleep (he thinks) while he plays. It is fun to see what they choose to play with, and it's especially fun to see Pickles play, since she hasn't played much in the past. As for thinking she's leaving me to sleep, I don't think so. She brings the toy up on the bed to play with it. ;-) Joy A friend of mine at work has adopted a new kitten, he has lots of toys but has taken to a short yellow ribbon. He takes it everywhere, walking around the house with it in his mouth. Hew even sleeps with it. However, a few days ago, he dragged one of her husbands slippers up the stairs and onto their bed. The slipper was bigger than he is. she saw him dragging it up the stairs with such determination she was impressed. He's back to his ribbon at the moment. We've just discovered what appears to be the greatest cat toy EVER! There's a brand of cheese called Cathedral and I have just discovered their selection packs, 14 little bars of their various cheddars individually wrapped. At £3.49 a bag it's doubtless an expensive way to eat cheese but I like cheese and since what with Dave being ill and everything I'm eating on the hoof as it were I've been keeping a bag in the fridge. I open the bar, throw the wrapper in the bin and know within 5 seconds, Sarsi or Bonnie retrieves the wrapper and they run round with them in their mouths and play tug of war or throw them about and pounce on them. Right now the pair of them are asleep on the bed with a wrapper each to hold onto Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |

.. Do they like the cheese Not really- now our first owner Speedy Joe (RB)loved cheese. Take some cheese out the fridge and even if he was miles away he'd sense a possibilty of cheese. We used to slice cheese with one hand and the other holding the scruff of this slavering maniac to stop him running off with it all. Edam was his biggest weakness though he once did a runner with half a pound of it Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |

They just stopped everything and ate their cheese together. Reminded me of when we got our central heating installed in 2003, Sarsi and Dunzi were only kittens at the time and whilst the workmen were here I couldn't find Dunzi at the same time every morning so after looking all over the flat I went out to ask the workmen if they'd seen her. Our stair doglegs and as it was their tea break they were sitting on the turn with cups of tea/coffee and bacon sandwiches....and Dunzi! Turned out she was sneaking out to meet them and they got in the habit of buying an extra bacon roll for her. She wasn't in any danger as soon as they stood up and came back in so did she. They really liked her and she was heartbroken when the job was done. For about a week or so afterwards at the same time every morning she'd paw at the door and cry and need to have a look to see the source of bacon was not back then she'd sigh and sulk Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |
