Default A difficult call

Being the only 4foot left in Chez Shenks, and the reader of names,

sniff

I must tell you I need an alcolyte who is able to take over. My health
is failing. I am at least 20 and may be older. No one knows how old I
am.

I look about though, and I am pretty sure I am the eldest cat here, much
like my loved Aunti Mabel was for the doggies (might have been 20.5!)
and Iowna after at at 17. Cash was probably 15 which is very
respectable for a doggie.

Not suprising that it is time to call for another to be ready.
Afterall, I had various Chez Shenks at the ready, in case before. Now,
it's just me.

What is needed to do this? Only 1 thing. Heart.

Also typing fingers, time, and some brain and effort.
I guess I can get back to keeping the roster, which also involves keeping up with the yearly rainbow bridge list, but I couldn't also handle the RB site.
And I'm not excel savvy, I used to keep the list, but in Word. and I'd at least need to be updated to the current Calling of Names list. Also, October Jellical Ball is just 1½ months away, The full moon is October 13 and 14 and we'll need a host/Master of Ceremonies for that.

Mine Meowmee paintid da portrate ov me but I yam not sure if we need artistic ability. But will need help getting up-to-date with the Rainbow Bridge list.
Francesca, would you be able to be M.C. for the Jellical Ball, or should we ask for volunteers? Meowme kept some notes on past years.

Purrs for you and the one who is ready.

Judith

For now, Daisy-chan is ok (sorry for human speak). It's getting rocky
though and as far as we can tell, she's the eldest here.

I have no issues with keeping the lists as 'a meowmie' provided others
do not mind.

I was also about to post that we need to start looking at spots for the
next ball. I have some ideas.

I have notes too and full record of the last 3 years (possibly more).
Daisy-chan has been a 'backup' for the MC where arcane communications
take place out of the viw of the group (so it all comes as a fun
suprize when we start). You may have noted sometimes I close out for
the MC if they got hit with some of that pesky not as important work
(grin).

There's a natural ebb and flow and only some parts are 'timed'. Like
we try to open the ball on the right day but then we have fun and don't
worry about dates as it can take as long as 2 weeks to hit the 'next
morning and final reading'.

I think it is healthy for us to swap about from time to time and there
is no skill-set required. I happen to use excel as it's an easy tool to
see if you made one change to a list, if you missed others that needed
to shift.

If wondering, names for the list come from various sources. I just got
emailed some from a friend who bought a house and found out the last
owner was a hoarder running a sort of 'last ditch effort'. she was left
with some 20 dogs and 37 cats that were not well enough to enter the
adoption stream (they'd have been put down). To be specific, thats 20
dogs and 37 cats left, as some had to be put down right away and some
went to adoption facilities.

I started shipping her pet food 2 months ago (Amazon subscribe and
save). Basic medical (including spay/neuter) already handled. One of
the dogs is headed my way in 5 days (estimated healing time after
double enucleation done yesterday by local vet to her).

So point is, there is always background stuff here but we love and
support one another. Entering slowly will be Spanner, huge feet and
somewhat malformed toes, estimated age 14. Newly completely blind
(eyes now removed=enucleation). Close cut shave as his fur was so
matted and filthy, they had to do that before they could treat the
lesions on his skin. Sad smile, they aren't sure if he was a long hair
or not as so much was happening, that's all they know.
