Default Persia has an appointment

Tomorrow at 11:00 AM for a post-op check up. Poor girl will probably be
thinking "Oh crap, she's going away again. Last time she went away they put
me under anethesia and shaved my belly and did who knows what to me!" Naw,
not this time

I have to say, this vet is *wonderful*. I had to make payment arrangements
and was a bit apprehensive about calling to make the appointment since I
haven't paid them in 2 weeks. The receptionist said "Oh no, you're paying
us timely, Dr. Sanders isn't worried about it. We love Persia, we have to
take care of Persia!" Isn't that nice?!

My Mom's surgery is in the morning; taking Persia in (kicking, screaming,
yowling) will be a distraction for me. I'll call the hospital down in
Beaufort tomorrow after Persia and I get home. Mom should be well into
recovery by then and hopefully in a room. Might even get to talk to her.

Interesting -- there's apparently a difference in (not meant to be
negative) ethics between human and veterinary surgeons. The American
College of Surgeons does not allow surgeons to make separate charges for
postoperative visits, with the underlying assumption that followups are
necessary and should be quoted as part of the basic price. Patients, of
course, can make payment arrangements, but the post-op visits are part
of the package. Of course, if new conditions develop postoperatively,
that's a separate billing matter.

Well, I think it varies. I know my vet would not charge for a follow up
visit.
