WHOA!! April "GOTCHA!"

The "April GOTCHA!" is my dad's name for an April snowstorm,
particularly one that hits after the switch to daylight-savings, after
the daffodils are up, and after we've had a few balmy days to lull us
into a false sense of security. And that's what's happening now. I
cannot believe the amount of snow that has fallen here in the past two
hours! And the wind!! It looks solid white outside. The cats are
dumbfounded, and so am I!

Make Levees, Not War

We were supposed to get a big snowstorm yesterday but only got about 5
inches. It was very wet and heavy - like cement. A lot has melted
already with 40 degree temperatures and intermittent sun.

My daffodils and hyacinths are in full bloom -- gorgeous. Today we have
thunder and rain. I hope it doesn't turn to snow (It usually does) and
breaks the lovely flowers down. MLB

Barring occasional spring blizzards, this is one of my favorite times
of year. Daffodils and hyacinths.

Even though I live a long way north (54º 11' N) we are very lucky in the UK
to be warmed by the gulf stream. Having said that we did have some snow
yesterday which is very unusual for this time of year, but at least the
daffodils are out and the birds are nesting.
